You Are Not the Only One Fighting This
A word for anyone convinced they’re uniquely broken

Basic Training! Stage 1 series.
“Welcome to Stage 1: Operation Purity”
If you’ve spent years hiding a struggle with sexual sin, there’s a good chance you’ve come to a quiet, painful conclusion: I must be the only real Christian dealing with this.
We want to tell you plainly: you’re not.
Decades of Counseling Tell a Consistent Story
Pureheart’s counselors have spent a combined lifetime — literally decades — walking alongside men and women fighting exactly this battle. Across all that time, one thing has become unmistakably clear: this struggle is far more common inside the church than anyone talks about openly. It isn’t rare. It isn’t unusual. It’s one of the most widespread, least discussed struggles believers face today — and that includes pastors, elders, and ministry leaders, not just the people sitting in the pews.
Silence isn’t evidence of purity. It’s usually evidence of shame.
Here’s the pattern we see over and over: because almost no one talks about this openly in church, everyone struggling with it assumes they’re the exception, the uniquely broken one, the only “real” failure in an otherwise faithful congregation. That assumption is exactly what keeps this struggle so entrenched — silence breeds isolation, and isolation breeds more silence. It’s a cycle, not a reflection of how rare the struggle actually is.
Why This Matters For You Right Now
If shame has convinced you that your struggle is uniquely disqualifying — that everyone else has this figured out except you — consider the alternative: you’re actually in the majority of people quietly fighting this same fight, not the minority. That doesn’t excuse the sin. But it does mean you don’t have to carry the added weight of believing you’re uniquely defective.
You Were Never Meant to fight tthis Alone
Scripture doesn’t just diagnose this problem; it gives the remedy: confession, one to another (James 5:16), not confession locked away in private prayer alone. Healing has always required bringing this struggle into the light, with people who understand it and won’t recoil from it.
If you’ve been carrying this in isolation, believing you’re the only one — you’re not, and you don’t have to keep carrying it that way.
